Hai Preethimol,
Hai Jagdish uncle
Who is a buddy? A friend? Or our favourite pal? Well i got a chance 2 days b4, and now i know who is a buddy...
We had our arts fest few days b4. As usual, i couldn't stand back frm my events. It was reporting time 4 English debate. While I was on my way 2 our venue, i noticed a crowd in-front of canteen.
I heard an applause, lots of howls, and whistles as the participants were performing. It was TATA docomo's "best buddies" competition.
The task was simple. We had to sing their theme music -2..2.2..2..2ooo2...docomo....docomo...docoomoooo.....The entire campus could hear the song, accompanied by howls and whistles..
Do i need to mention that i was looking eagerly 4 2 buddies 2 join me?..I just swept my eyes through the crowd. Jerin.Yes that would b gr8...But what abt the next buddy?
There was Kiran, My room mate, wearing a long kurtha. Anyone seeing him 4 the first time would definitely think that he is a gr8 singer. But he was too shy, that literally, v had 2 drag him to the stage.
This bloody Kiran didn't allow me 2 sing while @ home, and now i found a chance 2 make him sing in-front of whole college, so that some day he would wise up and let me sing 4 the rest of my college life.
2..2.2..2..2ooo2...
2..2.2..2..2ooo2...docomo....docomo...docoomoooo........
There was a silence....followed by a great applause.....V couldn't believe it..."Yaar, v made it..Everyone liked our Song."I said.
"Shut up shaji. Majority of the audience r our frnz. How can they ignore us?" Replied Kiran.( Shaji is my nickname.)
But i still believed that our song was good. As we got into 2nd round, v had 3 buddy pairs as opponents. Next round was simple. They gave us a handful of friendship bands. We had to approach the crowd, and get them tied onto our hands.
We went to them. Eventhough Kiran and Jerin got enough friends to tie the bands, their wrists were more bigger than mine. So it was my privilege.
Everyone rushed in with more and more bands, while some of them were still trying to fasten them onto Kiran's and Jerin's wrists. First came the familiar faces, followed by some junior girls, and a bit later many unfamiliar faces kept approaching us.
"TIMEz UP!....." Yelled out the anchor. While Kiran and Jerin came up with few bands, my wrists were aching, as the force of tying band was directionaly proportional to the intensity of friendship.
Believe it or not, we got 102 bands tied to our hands. There were some buddies who fetched us some bands which fell down from our opponents' hands.
Next round, came the mighty tug of war, and that was our final round....Even though we replaced Kiran with a fatso, we couldnt win the war.
And the results came out. v Finished as second runner up.Not bad.... We got a t-shirt imprinted with DOCOMO logos, a trophie, and some music cd's, not worth more than a piece of shit.
We were all happy....I went on with my busy schedule. With my pals, i won Radio mango's RJ freak out. The crowd support was incerdible....I owe them a lot..Both boys and girls.
This is our final year...Nearly 25 days left 2leave the campus...As this reality makes me numb and weep, i couldn't 4 get the sweet victories grabbed with their help....
Hats off, dear buddies....U r not just a frnd, not just a favourite pal,...Buddies,...u r my life, my energy, so will i b 4 urs- now, and forever.......
