Hi Preethimol,
Let me ask u a question. What is "Sea of Tranquility?"...May b an 8 year old child like u finds it quite difficult 2 answer.
But if the qn was 2 Jagdish uncle, he would have rushed in with the answer. Let me tell u what "Sea of Tranquility" is. It was the spot where man landed on moon for the first time.
If u ask engineering students like me, v have a little bit different answer.V refer it 2 the calmness of mind, and relaxation experienced by our body when theories and numericals rush in like darts, in college lectures.
2 b simple, deep sleep in the midst of vast theories. For the time being, let us call them "sleepers".
One can find a sleeper anywhere in a class viz. back bench, windowside, straight below the fan, behind a fat guy or gal, and even in front bench.
To b sincere, i am also a sleeper, who occupies back bench. I am a veteran in sleeping with 2.5 years of experience. I was yanked only once during my entire course, and made quite a lot of friends 2 fit in this company.
There r many styles adopted by sleepers. Specs r highly advantageous. One can b in deep sleep, facing the tutor. Some sleepers are bold enough to lay down on bench, while some professionals sleep even with their eyes opened.
Sleepers occupying front bench usually keep their head pointing somewhere near the tutor's platform, as the tutor's eyes engage middle and back rows.
Let me narrate my style. I don't sleep unless the classes r boring or left with some sleep for previous night's vigil. For the first 15 minutes of lecturing, i will b busy, scribbling the notes.
When u need more concentration, u need more energy hence more oxygen. To meet the sudden oxygen demand, our mouth opens involuntarly. For a common man, its called "yawn".
Soon after that, i will point my pen to notebook, keeping it steady. With my left hand i suport my head, and tries to pretend like i am writing. I carry on with my sleep until my friend sitting near 2 me delivers a bang on my back,
or put some paper roll into my ear canal. Finally, my notebook will resemble a canvas with a beautiful modern art, or a grafitti, whatever it is.
Yesterday it was my HOD who disrupted my sleep, by calling my name, and i was about to yell out "Present maam", thinking that it was my roll call.
And by the end of the day, i would have spent atleast 4.5hrs sleeping inside my class. But these drowsiness never ever happens while i am in lab, or in canteen.
Why is it so?....Boring theories?....Or is there any undiscovered scientific explanation behind this phenomenon?....But all of us, the veterans of sleepers r not less than a hero in our class.
Towards the end of each hour, v receive the compliments 4 the best performance. Finally, our notebook seems to bear the finest modern art collections. And while the tutor asks to submit the notes as an assignment, we spend a sleepless night, which v compensate from the following classes....
Gud night...Feeling 2 much sleepy.....may b...2day's post wasn't interesting....pardon me....i'm half slept....
